Japanese film fest awards Iranian film

Iranian blockbuster hit ‘6.5 per Meter’ has received two awards at the Tokyo International Film Festival’s 32nd annual event.

Director Saeed Roustaee was awarded Best Director and actor Navid Mohammadzadeh was awarded Best Actor during the festival’s award ceremony.

‘6.5 per Meter’ is a story about a veteran narcotics officer and his colleague who search the streets of Tehran in order to find the city’s most notorious drug kingpin.

Having seen his share of lies and games pulled off by criminals, the short-tempered officer’s patience runs thin, until he finds the drug dealer. However, things do not exactly go as planned.

The film’s main cast is made up of Peyman Maadi, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Parinaz Izadyar, and Farhad Aslani.

Having premiered at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in 2019, the award-winning film has been screened at film festivals across the world including the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland, and the Chicago International Film Festival in the US.

Founded in 1985, the Tokyo International Film Festival is the only film festival in Japan to be accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers. Today, it is one of Asia’s leading film festivals.

The 32nd edition of the festival was held October 28 – November 5.
